Rotary Interact Trip: Hopi Reservation November 2-5, 2017

Hopi Nation Service Trip 2017
November 2-5, 2017

Each year, Interactors (high school aged Rotarians) have the unique opportunity to join Rotarians for a service project on the Hopi Nation, a Native American tribe whose villages date back to 1200 A.D., descendants of the Anasazi culture. The Hopi Nation live on the mesas of Northeastern Arizona.

This year we'll be providing firewood and repairing a school and/or local homes. We will work with local Hopi students teaching life skills through Jr. Achievement.

The cost is $200 which includes transportation, food and lodging.  We're accepting applications on a first come, first serve basis, accepting those who have paid their $200 and submitted their paperwork. To ensure a quality experience for our participants, we are capping this trip at 20 students and 10 chaperones.
  • Thursday-Meet and load vans, drive to reservation.
  • Friday- Teaching Jr. Achievement skills to local Hopi students. Distributing dictionaries and firewood.
  • Saturday- Various work around the reservation. Dinner with locals.
  • Sunday-Sunrise service on sacred mesa, drive home.

Support Youth: Rotary License Plate Program

Support Utah Rotary Youth Programs
WHILE promoting Rotary everywhere you drive.

It is really easy to support our younger generations: Get a Rotary license plate (and please renew it every year!).  Proceeds from these license plates allow us to put on trainings and events for our youth, recognize exceptional leaders, as well as send our Interactors & Rotaractors to Rotary conferences.

Here's how you can get your Rotary license plate (at all DMVs in Utah):
  1. In person at the DMV, submit the paperwork needed to register your vehicle.  Let them know you want to have the "Humanitarian Service" special group plate.  You'll pay $16 for the initial special plate fee, and an additional $25 for the contribution (which is also the price of renewing).
  2. By mail, submit a copy of your current registration, along with a note that you would like the "Humanitarian Service" special group plate. Include a check for $45 ($25 towards youth programs, $16 for the plate fee & $4 for postage) made out to: Utah State Tax Commission Motor Vehicle Division. Mail everything to: Utah State Tax Commission Motor Vehicle Division P.O. Box 30412 Salt Lake City, UT 84130.
For more info, call 801-297-7780 or 1-800-DMV-UTAH (800-368-8824), or click HERE for the DMV special group plates webpage.
